Weston Football Faces East Catholic in Saturday Home Opener (6:00 PM)

It’s no secret that the Weston High School football program is in a transitional state. 

Weston Football Head Coach Dave Drais said last season that “sometimes things aren’t going to go your way. You have to focus on the things that you can control. You don’t necessarily accept totally the things you can’t, but you put them to the side and keep working on the things that you can control. If a ball bounces one way or the other, you can’t control that. If there is a bad call by a referee, you can’t control that. All you can control is how you react to it.”

That message is what will define the Trojans this season. Controlling the controllables. Bouncing back from tough losses. Overcoming challenges. Recovering from injury. 

Led by Alex Mandujano (’27), Ethan Krichavsky (’27), Jack Olsen (’28), and Antos Sykut (’28), the 2026 Trojans’ Captains have a young core to build off of. Only five starters returned from last season’s 3-7 team, while the Trojans moved Olsen from wide receiver to quarterback.

Last season’s win over Notre Dame Prep was the program’s biggest win in years. We all remember it. NDP was unbeaten. Weston was 2-2 after going 0-10 the previous season. The stadium was packed. Friday Night Lights. An electric atmosphere. 

Weston came in, blocked out the noise, and won in a 38-35 thriller. 

Trojans, let’s do it again! 

Weston High School, support your Trojans and spend a night out at the stadium. The players, coaches, and parents deserve your energy and school spirit. They’ve shown they can put on a show.
