2023: Aka “Your Year”
Now that 2022 has ended and our 2023 journey has begun, it is important to assess ourselves and to consider how we can become better students, family members, friends, and people! There is always room for improvement, yet sometimes, it can be difficult to sit down and think about how we can become more studious, successful, etc. In this article, you will learn about 5 life strategies that will help you become your best self.
- Drink more water- I am more than sure we are all aware that water = hydration. There are more benefits that come along with drinking water than you can imagine though, as H20 prevents headaches, brain fog, and even stress! By drinking a little more water everyday, you can quickly improve your mood.
- Get enough sleep- Sometimes, calling it a day when you finally get some free time is not always the “fun option.” Despite this, it is the better choice as getting enough sleep is crucial for high school students that are constantly working. Allowing your mind to shut off for more than 6 hours allows you to be more productive, calm, and well rested. So, try to get a full night of sleep and see just how much it influences you for the better!
- Start using the pomodoro study method- I don’t know about you, but starting and finishing homework in one sitting is extremely hard to do, especially when we have other commitments like sports, clubs, etc. Something that has helped thousands of students is this pomodoro studying technique. This is where you study for a designated amount of time, preferably 30 minutes to an hour and you take a 10-20 minute break. You then continue this cycle until all your work is done. It keeps you both motivated and productive!
- Write your goals- Those who are successful usually write down what they want to achieve. This can be getting a good grade on a math test, or becoming an astronaut! Writing down your goals allows you to straighten your priorities and to work on achieving them, step by step.
- Focus on yourself- Being a student and constantly being compared to others is extremely draining. Paying attention to your aspirations/ achievements only, and not your friend’s, allows for more self-growth. You can do this by keeping your grades to yourself, and not asking peers how they performed on a test.
